                        JANICE

I received my first toy drum at about the age of 2. It was a child's drum made by a company called Noble & Cooley. Drums have been a passion ever since. When I was six years old I used to go to my dad's polka band rehearsals and sit next to the drummer (who was blind) and copy what he was doing using silverware to bang on my three piece tupperware kit, all different sizes and pitches of course! I would even close my eyes to FEEL what he was FEELING when he played. Although I took drum lessons throughout school and played in concert, marching, and jazz bands, I've never taken formal lessons. I'm basically a self-taught straight ahead rock drummer who'd rather still just close my eyes and play from my heart with feeling and emotion... Many years later I upgraded my plastic tupperware set to a custom Noble & Cooley kit for big kids, which has suuuuch a sweet sound. I wanted the kit so bad that once it was completed I drove to the company's facility in Granville, MA to get it. I was invited inside and was given a tour. I met several of the workers and they explained and showed me the processes used to build their drums. What a great group of people working there! I always receive compliments on both the great sound the drums produce and their overall look. Check them out at www.myspace.com/noblecooley.

From 1991 through 2003 I was the drummer for echo JANES (www.myspace.com/echojanes), an all female original rock band also from CT.

NOW I AM ROCKING out with Sister Funk.
